Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This contract position supports a Setting 4 Special Education program within a K-12 school environment located in Coon Rapids, MN. The role focuses on assisting students with the most significant disabilities and severe behaviors in a specialized, 100% special education classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students categorized in Setting 4 Special Education, addressing severe behavioral and developmental needs.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for students across elementary, middle, and high school caseloads.
- Assist with daily classroom activities including instructional support, behavioral interventions, and personal care as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development to enhance instructional effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must meet the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional status in Minnesota by one of the following:
- Passing the MN Board Highly Qualified Para Exam.
- Possessing at least 60 college credits (transcripts required).
- Experience working with children in special education settings, particularly with severe behavioral challenges, is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to supporting students in a specialized educational environment.
Location:
- River Trail Learning Center, Coon Rapids, MN (within Anoka-Hennepin School District).
Employment Details:
- Contract position with a school calendar year duration.
- Candidates are asked to consider direct hire with the district after 120 days of contracting.
